A second year PhD student researching automatic sound recognition for biodiversity appraisal. Jack is developing automated species identification systems using audio signal processing and deep-learning techniques to identify the calls of fauna found in environmental soundscapes recorded in the UK. Currently focusing on algorithms for the identification and monitoring of species including insects, mammals, amphibians and birds.
As well as engaging in research, Jack builds iOS apps and demonstrates in university programming labs (iOS Programming, Python, C and Java).
