Biography

Simon is a PhD student who is working towards a better understanding of the impact of sound and noise on everyday life. His research focus hinges on how we interact with the soundscape we are a part of, and our physiological reaction to our acoustic environment. Simon has an MSc in Audio Engineering from the University of Derby, and has worked as a digital signal processing engineer in research at the renowned loudspeaker company Bowers & Wilkins. Simon possessed a keen interest in sound and music from an early age, and has evolved from singing with touring cathedral choirs, through working as a sound engineer in live entertainment, to exploring the fabric of sound in electronica and synthesis. Simon continues to evolve his interest in sounds and noise through the exploration of electronics, interaction and automation.
