Viewing Instructions
Below are instructions to help you decide which service to use!
YouTube VR Video
If you are viewing on a device with internet access, we recommend you choose YouTube VR Video.
You can plug headphones into your device and hear sound all around you, which will react realistically when you look around!
Note: you do not need a VR headset to be able to view YouTube VR Videos. You can also watch them on a computer or a television as long as you have access to YouTube.
To view in VR
You will need:
- Smartphone with internet access
- Google Cardboard compatible VR headset
- Headphones
Instructions:
Open the YouTube VR Video from your smartphone, and click this icon in the bottom right corner to view in virtual reality:
This will split the screen in two. Now place your smartphone in the Google Cardboard compatible VR headset, put on your headphones, sing along and enjoy!
To view on a device without a VR headset:
You will need:
- A device with internet access and access to YouTube
Instructions:
Simply open the YouTube VR Video on your device, sing along and enjoy!
Note: if you are using a computer, you can ‘look’ around by clicking and dragging the video around using the mouse!
Android VR App
If you want to install the VR video on a smartphone that may not always have internet access, you can download the Android VR App.
You will need:
- Google Cardboard compatible VR headset
- Android smartphone
- Around 1Gb storage space per video
Instructions:
Click on the Android VR App link to download the app.
Once the app is installed, find it in your list of applications and open it. This will split the screen in two and may take a couple of seconds to start up. Now place your smartphone in the Google Cardboard compatible VR headset, put on your headphones, sing along and enjoy!
Note: to install this app you will be required to allow ‘unknown sources’ in your smartphone’s settings.
To do this, open the settings app, navigate to Security and tick the ‘unknown sources’ checkbox.
Alternatively, you may need to navigate to Apps > Advanced > Special App Access > Install unknown apps, and allow ‘unknown apps’ for Chrome.
