Biography
Alex (she/her) is a PhD researcher at the AudioLab, University of York. Her research explores AI-driven production sound workflows, with particular interest in microphone visibility, audio-visual integration, computer vision-based restoration, audio enhancement, and VFX-related production workflows. Her PhD project is associated with CoSTAR Live Lab and sits across the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology and the School of Arts and Creative Technologies.
Alex holds a BSc in Mathematics from Imperial College London, an MA in Visual Effects from London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, and an MMus in Electronic Music Composition from the London College of Music, University of West London. Before beginning her PhD, she worked in VFX pipeline and tool development for major film and television productions.
Outside her research, Alex has a long-standing interest in classical, jazz, and electronic music. She is particularly interested in the compositional and technological approaches that shape listening experiences, sonic textures, and soundscapes. She is a vocalist and composer, and is also an active player of rhythm games.
