Biography

Jacob Cooper is a graduate of the AudioLab, having completed both his BEng in Music Technology Systems and MSc in Audio & Music Technology at the University of York. During his MSc, he worked as a part-time technician on the MINERVA (Musical Interactions in Networked Experiences using Real-time Virtual Audio) project. Following the completion of his degree, became a full-time member of staff, working as part of the research team led by Professor Gavin Kearney. This work has involved the creation of audiovisual content for XR testing and demonstration, and the design and implementation of listening tests to evaluate audio for virtual experiences. This feeds into the broader work being done by the research team into Networked Music Performance (NMP) and performer interactions within the metaverse.

Outside at his role at the AudioLab, Jacob is a guitarist and an active member of the York music scene. He enjoys performing, as well as going to gigs, showing support for other local artists and the great independent venues that York has to offer.
