Once again the AudioLab had a strong presence at the Audio Engineering Society Convention in New York in October. Chief amongst the work presented was the MSc project work of David Rivas Mendez. David worked on an exciting MSc project in collaboration with Abbey Road Studios on recording strategies for music production in six degrees of freedom virtual reality. You can find his paper here.
David also gave a dedicated workshop to a captive audience on his methods alongside AudioLab members Cal Armstrong and Dr. Gavin Kearney.
Amongst the other work presented were workshops by Cal and Gavin on binaural measurement techniques, a paper by Ben Tsui on binaural audio and machine learning, a paper by Dan Johnston on the use of immersive audio for helping children with autism and a paper by Tomasz Rudzki on tools for evaluation of spatial audio using digital audio workstations.
