We have two fantastic fully funded industry-sponsored PhD opportunities in the AudioLab.
The first is with Google on the evaluation of spatial audio codecs. The aim of this project is to develop objective metrics to support evaluation of multichannel audio within Google services. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic team focused on improving immersive and interactive audio systems across a diverse range of applications. The second project is with the BBC on Artificial Intelligence driven soundscape design. This project will focus on machine learning, or machine listening suitable for radio, TV and film soundtracks, with a view to automating part of the sound design process for immersive, interactive and object-based audio content. Interested candidates should have a strong interest in sound, music and immersive audio technology, excellent programming skills and an understanding of DSP and sound design practice. Some background in Machine Learning would also be an advantage. (Closing deadline for applications: 1 July 2018)
